Festival Footwear: How To Stay Stylish And Comfortable At Coachella

It’s that time of year again; white girls get your (biodegradable) glitter out, Coachella is here! Set annually on the backdrop of Indio, California, Coachella is a big deal, even down under. But what could be an even bigger deal than the festival itself? WTF do you wear?!

Speaking from personal experience, festy outfits can take months of planning, scheming, saving and crying but when you pull off your vision, it feels hella empowering. One of the most important parts of any outfit but especially one for a festival, is the footwear – because style and comfort are both competing for first place.

Being on your feet all day, dancing, walking a million steps (probably – sorry Fitbits aren’t festy attire), jumping and just all-round going crazy, the first thing that’s going to tire you out are your feet. So, when choosing your shoes for any festival, comfort is an important thing.

I’m not saying you have to ask your Dad to borrow his 2002 white leather Asics or anything. You can have both comfort AND style for all three of your Coachella dream looks but you definitely don’t want to have that “beauty is pain” attitude for something like a festival.

Some of my personal fave festy queens show us how you can look good and feel good whilst dancing the night away in my top picks for festival shoes:

Boots

Boots are probably my favourite festy shoes, they’re enclosed which means your feet don’t get wet/dusty/muddy and most importantly, TROD ON. They come in a billion styles so you can pretty much get a pair of boots to match any outfit. Not to mention I’ve never had an uncomfortable pair of boots and thank the lord every day for my Doc Martens.

Sneakers

Sneakers are a close second. Whether you’re going for a lowkey skater vibe or chunky bad bitch lewks, sneakers are also enclosed. So comfy that they were originally designed to wear running and easy enough to kick off at the end of the night once all the dancing is done.

HollywoodLife interviewed the Senior Director for Fashion and Trend at DSW, Regina Popp and she agrees that you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort especially with so many options available to us. From Doc Martens, Vans, Roc Boots, Converse – the list goes on, we are privy to copious pairs of shoes that are comfy enough to wear on the plane over yet stylish enough to rock with your festy goddess ‘fit.

So if you’re lucky enough to be going to Coachella, or any festival really (Splendour line up we’re looking at you) what are your top picks for festy footwear? Let us know in the comments below!
