A homeless man has been found guilty of stalking former One Direction singer, Harry Styles, leaving him scared in his own home for three months.
Harry, 25, told Hendon Magistrates Court that he discovered 26-year-old Pablo Tarazaga-Orero in March at a bus shelter near his home in London, prompting him to offer money to buy him food or stay at a hotel.
“I thought it was sad someone so young was sleeping rough — that anyone was when it was so cold. I felt sorry for him,” Styles said.
However, his kindness soon resulted in him feeling “scared” and “very uncomfortable.”
Tarazaga-Orero refused to accept money due to “religious reasons,” so Styles purchased food for him at a nearby cafe.
“I asked him if he needed any food, he asked for some edamame beans. I stopped at a vegan cafe, I bought two sandwiches, two salads, two muffins all heated then took them to Pablo.”
After receiving the food, Tarazaga-Orero had asked Styles if he “wanted to go to a restaurant to eat with him,” which he found a little odd and replied that he was on his way to work.
“His facial expression made me feel a little uneasy. It was like a smirk,” He recalls.
“Until that point, I never felt unsafe or uneasy in my own home.”
Believed to be a one-time occurrence at the time, Styles broke contact with Tarazaga-Orero at the advice of his security team. However, the 26-year-old continued to camp outside the singers’ home every night and allegedly posted notes and money into his letterbox for months on end.
Unfortunately, it didn’t stop there – he began to follow the singer on his runs and visits to the local pub. Until the matter escalated quickly when Tarazaga-Orero lunged at Styles and tried to grab him while he was jogging through Regent’s Park, prompting him to go to the police in June.
The singer told the District Judge that he has “never really encountered this kind of behaviour before, further stating that he has employed a night guard and locks his bedroom door every night.
Pablo believed that he was “the soulmate of Harry Styles” and was “spiritually protecting him,” which presumably caused his infatuation with the star.
However, when asked whether he stalked the celebrity, he said:
“That was never my intention. In the end, I just wanted the money he offered me.
“I don’t have any feelings for him. I’m not in love with him.”
Tarazago-Orero will be sentenced on October 21.
