The bar for online dating is pretty low, and it may have just gotten lower. Or higher, depending on your opinion on KFC related goods.
We Australian’s are obsessed with dating. We’ve had The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Love Island, Bachelor in Paradise, Married at First Sight, First Dates, and The Farmer Wants a Wife; just to name a few.
It seems popular fast food chain KFC has caught on to our little Aussie obsession and have swooped in to capitalise on it.
This isn’t the first time KFC, known for their ‘finger-lickin’ good chicken’, has decided to lend their brand to alternative products that’s far from the crispy chicken they offer.
I hope the internet hasn’t forgotten the KFC-flavoured nail polish or the ‘extra crispy’ sunscreen they released.
Their newest endeavour is, *drumroll*, online dating. That’s right folks, the KFC dating game titled ‘I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator’ is available at an app store near you!
Created alongside Psyop, the KFC dating simulator aims to put the user in the shoes of a culinary student trying to date a classmate, a young Colonel Sanders.
Navigating school and friendships while trying to win Sanders over as a business partner (“or maybe even so much more”), while taking part in cooking battles and making recipes are all part of the game. Even a special secret ending is to be expected.
According to Polygon reports, one of the characters is a dog, and a professor; a professor dog.
Some game features include:
- 9 lovable characters
- Multiple hours of play-through
- Dateable Colonel Sanders
- A secret ending! Shh!
- Secret recipes!
- Cooking battles
- Battle battles
- Earn a degree from a fictional culinary school
- 11 Herbs and Spices
- Cute miniature food
- Officially created by KFC.
Their founding father, Colonel Sanders, has often been depicted as an eligible bachelor. I, personally, associate Sanders as a friendly, white suited-white haired, older gentlemen with the secret formula for awesome chicken.
KFC, as it so happens, see’s a little more. We caught a glimpse of this when the company released a romance novel titled ‘Tender Wings of Desire’, penned by Sanders.
Say what you will, but KFC slays the weird yet intriguing marketing game.
The KFC dating game is now available on Steam, with audiences sizzling in delicious dating glory.
