This is the first time in five years that the American band are doing shows in Australia. Vampire Weekend did appear at Splendour last year, and clearly must have been eager to return.

The announcement for the tour comes off an extremely successful year for the band, with their new album Father of the Bride receiving heavy financial and critical success. The album garnered a lot of critical acclaim, with fans calling it one of their best. It was a unique sound for the band, with a plethora of different features.

With so many features on the album, it will be hard to tell if some of those songs will be played on tour. Despite this, some songs will make you want to jump up and bust a move, such as Sunflower and Unbearably White.

With only two shows slated, you can expect that they will sell out instantly, so tickets to this one will be extremely valuable. Vampire Weekend will perform in Melbourne on the 7th of January at The Forum and Sydney on the 9th at the Enmore Theatre. Tickets go on sale on Wednesday the 16th.
