The month of June has been jam-packed with fresh new releases from an array of talented artists proving music is still thriving! The Killers, DMA’s, E^ST, Gordi, Ball Park Music, and Amy Shark have all released stellar tracks this month, so keep on reading to find out more…
The Killers – ‘My Own Soul’s Warning’
The Killers have released an electrocharged track called ‘My Own Soul’s Warning’ which will be the first song to feature on their forthcoming album Imploding The Mirage. With a 70s vibe that feels very reminiscent of David Bowie and the glam-rock era, lead vocalist Brandon Flowers layers his stunning vocals amongst vivid keys, blazing guitars, and bright synths.
Imploding The Mirage will be the band’s sixth studio album following the release of their Wonderful Wonderful album in 2017. Imploding The Mirage was set to be released on May 29 however the Coronavirus pandemic has postponed the release to an unconfirmed date in the future.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, The Killers talk about how the creation process behind their Imploding The Mirage album was quite nostalgic.
“A lot of moments reminded me of making our first album, where you just know that it’s going to connect because of the way it makes you feel,” Flowers said. “I felt like that 20-year-old kid almost inventing something again.”

DMA’s – ‘Learning Alive’
In preparation for the release of their upcoming album The Glow, DMA’s have released their new single ‘Learning Alive’. This track shows a more vulnerable side to the band with lead singer Tommy O’Dell exploring themes of brokenness through intimate lyrics, ‘never been so scared to be open, knocking down walls through to more emptiness’. The classic DMA’s sound resounds through this song as the boys frame warm strumming guitars around O’Dell’s sorrowful yet stunning vocals.
‘Learning Alive’ is the fourth song released by DMA’s which will appear on their album The Glow, following on from their title track, ‘Silver’, and ‘Life Is A Game Of Changing’. The band’s upcoming album will be released July 10 following yet another Coronavirus postponement.
DMA’s are set to tour the UK in October this year following a postponement as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic. It is unconfirmed if this tour will go ahead following the cancellation and postponement of many events and gigs during this time including major music festival Splendour In The Grass. During lockdown, the band have also shared a stream of their sold-out live show which was at O2 Academy Brixton, you can watch part of it here.

This vibrant new song is E^ST’s fifth single off her soon to be released album which will grace our ears on July 31. E^ST pairs sorrow and desolation with electric energy all in the one song. E^ST (aka Melissa Bester) said this song came about during hardship.
“I wrote this song at a really difficult time in my life, and it’s almost like I wrote the song that I needed to hear,” she said in a press statement. “This song is about realising that just because life feels impossible, that doesn’t mean that it is impossible… And that as long as you’re trying something, there’s always hope.”
The I’m Doing It album is produced by Jim Eliot who has worked with Halsey, Ellie Goulding, and Kylie Minogue. The release of this song exemplifies the success of this indie-pop queen who has amassed over 60 million streams online and secured a spot in triple j’s Hottest 100.

Gordi has been busy this month releasing two awe-inspiring songs that will appear on her sophomore album Our Two Skins. ‘Unready’ and ‘Extraordinary Life’ are a breath of fresh air, instantly calming and soothing you back to safety. The two tracks are the fourth and fifth singles from her forthcoming album after the release of ‘Sandwiches’, ‘Aeroplane Bathroom’ and ‘Volcanic’.
“Given everything that’s going on in the world, maybe right now new music is just a background noise to you. And that’s ok,” Gordi said in a statement for triple j. “Or maybe it’s something you can cling to, something that can give you hope.”
The folktronica singer (formally known as Sophie Payten) brings us two uplifting and melodic singles with strumming guitars and ethereal vocals. Following the release of ‘Unready’ Gordi revealed to the world that she would be accompanying Bon Iver on their Australian tour in March next year. The tour was set to occur this June however Coronavirus restrictions caused the event to be postponed.

Ball Park Music – ‘Day & Age’
Ball Park Music have shared a new single titled ‘Day & Age’ with an accompanying music video. The new song is a chilled out tune with spiraling vocals, vibrating synths, and reflective lyricism that makes this a refreshing new bop from the band. Ball Park Music’s song ‘Day & Age’ follows their single ‘Spark Up’ with both tracks most likely to appear on their upcoming self-titled album which is expected to be released later this year.
Their upcoming album was originally set to be called ‘Mostly Sunny’ however the band announced the change in April saying it sounded “too optimistic”.
“This album feels different, we know it in our heart… We realised there was this overarching narrative to it and we just wanted to change it,” said lead singer Sam Cromack to NME.
The band is excited about releasing their self-titled album to the world which they say marks a milestone in their career. “We’re really comfortable in our skin and know who we are,” Sam told triple j recently. “We’re feeling really positive about this record and it’s a weird time to release it, but it feels like the beginning of a new chapter. It’s exciting!”

Amy Shark – ‘Everybody Rise’
Amy Shark is back with her electro-pop single ‘Everybody Rise’, which is her first music in over two years. Following her esteemed ARIA award-winning album LOVE MONSTER, this single is Shark’s comeback track. The song is edgy and instantly catchy signaling Amy Shark is back in business.
Shark collaborated with Joel Little on the track who is most notable for his work with Lorde, Taylor Swift, and Shawn Mendes. According to a press statement, ‘Everybody Rise’ is “a commentary on worship culture, how we create idols on social media while losing track of the humanity right in front of us”.
The singer was ready to release the single June 5 however out of respect for the Black Lives Matter movement Shark postponed the date by a week. The multi-award-winning singer talks about how she feels impassioned by the new release of her song.
“This single is me properly hitting my stride,” she affirms. “The next chapter will define me even more than LOVE MONSTER did.”
