The Rubens have released an all encapsulating ‘Live In Life’ remix EP that is multifaceted in the varied sounds heard throughout each version of the song from a collection of different artists. The band has also postponed their ‘Live In Life’ tour for a second time due to the Coronavirus.
Unfortunately, the band has had to postpone their ‘Live In Life’ tour for a second time this year due to the ongoing pandemic. The band was originally set to tour in May – July, which was then postponed to September – December, and now the tour has been placed between April – June in 2021. The tour is presented by triple j and is in celebration of their hit single ‘Live In Life’.
The band will play a series of different venues and locations including metro cities such as Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, Freo.Social in Fremantle, The Forum in Melbourne, and the Enmore Theatre in Sydney. They will also perform in regional towns they have never played at before including Bundaberg, Warrnambool, Shepparton and more.
“For obvious reasons, unfortunately we have to reschedule the ‘Live In Life’ tour again,” the band wrote in a statement. “But as a show of thanks for your ongoing support we enlisted the help of Alice Ivy for a remix, as well as alternate versions from Father Bobby Townsend, NASAYA and Pink Skies.”
After the success of their hit song ‘Live In Life’ which gained over 30 million streams and sat at #1 on Spotify’s Hot Hits Australia playlist, The Rubens have released a remix EP full of fun, groovy, electronic, and ambient remixes from a collection of different artists including Alice Ivy, NASAYA, Pink Skies, and Father Bobby Townsend.
Alice Ivy’s remix of ‘Live in Life’ has ambient and electronic beginnings with airy swirling sounds amongst strong pop beats.
“I was so stoked to be asked by the Rubens to remix ‘Live In Life’. When I first listened to the stems and dropped them into Ableton I envisioned flipping this song into a moody house banger, I feel like I kind of achieved that?! Super stoked to have this out and to be joining them on their album tour in 2021”. Said Alice Ivy including other artists on the EP to Hi Fi Way.
NASAYA’s remix is full of pop-funk energy with a strong beat making this tune a true rhythmic and exciting bop.
“I made this remix when I was stuck back home in Reunion Island while in lockdown. It was quite tough for me to stay inspired and ‘productive’ at the time and working on this remix definitely helped me to stay a bit more sane – it was such a fun process and helped me to take my mind off what is going on in the world.”
Pink Skies has produced an ethereal atmospheric remix that is slow and steady progressing into an upbeat chorus that is both smooth and danceable.
“When I first heard the track I thought it was awesome. I particularly love the line about the beer in the cellar, I’ve never heard a lyric like that in a song before. I spent a couple of days with the track, and tried to make it my own. I think I had like 5 different versions of the song, and this one felt like it had the best pocket. I’m happy that it’s out, and I hope everyone is into it!”
Father Bobby Townsend’s remix is a slow pop jam that is smooth and tranquil with strong summer vibes that transport you straight to sun-soaked days.
“I’m a sucker for slow jams so when my manager sent me the song I thought damn this is great, I’m gonna decelerate this baby. This is my late night drive in the rain remix. Big thanks to The Rubens for letting me hop on the project.”
Have a listen.
