Apple’s new retail space sits directly on the water at Marina Bay Sands. The sphere-shaped store is situated at one of the most iconic locations in Singapore. It opened officially on September 10 as the third Apple retail location in the country.

Dierdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail + People said in a statement:

“We couldn’t be more excited to open the breathtaking Apple Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, building on our commitment to this special place that began more than 40 years ago.”

Constructed of 114 pieces of glass, the sphere is a first-of-its kind, comprised of an all-glass dome structure. Completely surrounded by water, the building is supported by 10 narrow vertical mullions for structural connection. In detail, trees line the interior of the dome paying homage to Singapore’s gardens. At the top is an oculus, paving the way for natural light. Not to mention at night the sphere glows, alike to a traditional lantern. Apple notes the Pantheon in Rome as its source of inspiration.

Like every other Apple stores, visitors can shop gadgets and listen in on talks and tutorials. Of course, the view of Marina Bay can also be admired from within.
