Her fashion line was leading the way for change, but now Rihanna’s ‘Fenty Fashion House’ is saying goodbye.
After launching less than two years ago, the French luxury group, LVMH, have announced that the Fenty clothing line will be temporarily shutting down production.
LVMH is home to numerous high-end fashion houses, including Louis Vuitton and Dior. Rihanna made headlines for being the first black woman to head an original brand when it launched in 2019.
Since the singer’s transition to the fashion and cosmetic industry, Rihanna has been breaking traditional fashion boundaries. The brand has been applauded for its diverse and inclusive range that showcased realistic women’s bodies.
Last fall, her lingerie campaign exclusively featured black breast cancer survivors. Meanwhile, the brand also covered a broad range of skin tones and body types during runway shows. Despite the fashion line clothing, fans will be glad to hear that the Savage X Fenty lingerie line will continue.
The luxury group, LVMH, gave a statement to CNN Style, claiming that the suspension was a joint decision with Rihanna. Despite this challenge, the company will continue to support the Fenty empire.
It is no surprise that the COVID-19 pandemic has put pressure on the global fashion industry. Since 2020, sales have dropped dramatically. Travelling was also made impossible, meaning Rihanna could not attend design meetings and production visits.
Regardless, Rihanna has made powerful changes to the fashion industry within a short amount of time. As the Fenty Fashion House is put on hold, fans hope that she will only come back stronger.
