Lady Gaga and Adam Driver return to the screen to wow audiences in Ridley Scott’s Gucci.
Ridley Scott’s exploration of Maurizio Gucci’s murder has begun filming in Italy.
Straight off the back of an award-winning performance in A Star Is Born, Gaga is joined by fellow co-star Adam Driver on-screen. Giannina Scott, the directors wife, is impassioned about the subject of the Gucci family dynasty and is co-producing the film with Ridley Scott.
An All-Star Cast
The stacked cast also includes Al Pacino as Aldo Gucci, Jared Leto as Paolo Gucci, Jeremy Irons as Rodolfo Gucci, and Camille Cottin as Paola Franchi. Jack Huston and Reeve Carney are also on board. Roberto Bentivegna wrote the script, based on the book of the same name by Sara Gay Forden.
The film is set in the backdrop of 1990s Italy, during a time when execution-style killings of the city’s rich and glamorous were unheard of. Gucci tells the story of Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci. It details the murder of her husband, the grandson of renowned fashion designer Guccio Gucci.
The Black Widow
Reggiani’s crimes originally drew a sentence of 29 years. In the new film, Gagaplays a woman scorned. The film depicts the events which led to the gunning-down of 46-year-old Gucci one morning in the foyer of his office. The murder trial in the 1990s captivated the public. Reggiani was exposed for allegedly ordering a hitman to kill her ex-husband.
Reggiani was dubbed “Vedova Nera” – the Black Widow, by the press.
The Gucci murder tale is scripted by Roberto Bentivegna, based on Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. Ridley will produce the Gucci saga with Giannina Scott and Scott Free Productions as well as Kevin Walsh.
