Loki is back…or at least he will be, and he’s starring in his own show.
Disney has just released a new trailer for their upcoming series Loki. This follows on from a collection of shows released by the franchise featuring Marvel characters; namely WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Expanding upon the preview released during the 54th super-bowl, the trailer captures the same chaotic, charming energy possessed by the titular character.
The series will follow Loki and his escapades with the Time Variance Authority (TVA). The show explores the consequences brought about by the events created during Avengers: Endgame and the measures taken subsequently. Generating tumultuous deviations to the flow of time, Loki is apprehended by the TVA. As the organization sets about attempting to restore order to the timelines of the multiverse they enlist the villain’s help.
Who Will Star in Loki?
Reprising his role as Loki will be the multi-talented Tom Hiddleston. The actor has portrayed Loki in several films including the Thor trilogy, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. However, this variation of Loki will be the version directly following the first Avengers movie, before the character’s redemption arc.
Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of roles both on stage and on screen have garnered him prominence and acclaim within the industry. In 2008 he won the Laurence Olivier Award under the category Best Newcomer in a play for his role in Cymbeline. Additionally, he received a Golden Globe for Best actor in a Miniseries or Television Film in 2017 for his part in The Night Manager. Aside from his work in the film and TV industry, Tom Hiddleston has shown support for numerous charities. These include the Starlight Children’s Foundation and Comic Relief. He is also a UK ambassador for UNICEF. Concerning Loki, the actor has stated that,
“I know this character now…I feel that the audience knows him. And playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges, when then I’d have to change him in different ways, is the most exciting aspect of it.”
Owen Wilson features prominently in the trailer playing Mobius M. Mobius, a member of the TVA. In addition, Gugu Mbatha-Raw will play Ravonna Lexus Renslayer, a judge within the organization. Other actors slated to appear in the series are, Wunmi Mosaku, Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane and Erika Coleman.

April 5 marked the trailer’s release date YouTube. It quickly climbed the ranks, appearing on the website’s trending page. In just two days, the extended preview has accumulated over 9.5 million views. One fan took to the comments section to express their excitement for both the show and the actor.
“It’s about time Loki got his own show. Tom Hiddleston is GREAT!”
