The Mother’s Day edition of Saturday Night Live featured sketches which aimed at everything from the Covid pandemic to Musk’s plans to travel to Mars. The special episode also featured Grimes, playing Princess Peach to Elon Musk’s Wario.

Dazed reports that the self-proclaimed “Technoking of Tesla” made jokes about the name of the couple’s child,

X Æ A-Xii — “It’s pronounced: cat running across the keyboard”

He also found time to plug Dogecoin after having celebrated the meme currency for quite some time. Dogecoin immediately plummeted during Elon Musk’s performance on the show according to News.com.

Making it in America

Aussie hip-hop star The Kid Laroi gave audiences a lesson in breaking the states during his weekend SNL appearance, sending his fame level upwards.

Joining Cyrus in a performance of their remix of F*CK LOVE track ‘Without You’, Laroi appeared to be nervous. He quickly recovered however and nailed the overall performance. Fans were able to witness Laroi in a more stripped-back light, revealing his natural singing vocals for the first time. He says in a tweet,

“I JUST DID FUCKING SNL WOW WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK THANK YOU @MILEYCYRUS LOVE YOU AND THANK YOU @ELONMUSK FOR SAYING MY NAME CORRECTLY IT WAS AN INSANE EPISODE!!”

Laroi’s latest single ‘Without You’ currently sits at the top of the ARIAs. His appearance on SNL has also seen Laroi climb the Billboard charts in the US. His most recent collaborations also include mega star Justin Bieber. At just 17 years old, Laroi is the youngest Australian solo artist to top the chart – there’s no doubt The Kid Laroi is destined for success in the states.

Rise to Fame

Despite the young rappers explosion onto the music scene, The Kind Laroi a.k.a. Charlton Howard grew up in the housing projects of Sydney suburb Redfern. The Indigenous Aussie artist has previously stated in interviews that he lived hand-to-mouth growing up and that his mother had to sell drugs to get by. Howard began to upload music online at the age of 13, which has seen him develop a mass of supporters both in Sydney and online. The Sydney Morning Herald wrote that Grammy-nominated producer Khaled Rohaim, who produced much of the star’s F**k Love album, first spotted Howard at the age of 12 at a Sydney recording studio.

“I saw this kid standing in the corner at the back of one of the studios, and he was so young I was like, ‘What are you doing out at this time of night?’ And he’s like, ‘I make music, I’m a rapper.’ So I was like, ‘Yeah? Play me your music.’ He played me four songs and I was blown away.”
