FIB cordially invites you to the third instalment of our weekly drop series. Here are the fashion, music, and footwear releases that we’re most psyched about for the final week of August.
This week’s highlights include Kanye West’s Balenciaga Merch drop for DONDA, Supreme x New York Yankees collab, BTS x Megan Thee Stallion, “Butter” remix, Air Jordan’s x OFF-WHITE and more.
THE OFF-WHITE™ x Lite Nike Air Jordan 4’s
Nike Jordan Brand unveil their Fall 2021 collection, offering us a sneak peek at 10 models hitting stores throughout the FW21 season.
With this drop, Nike continues to place focus on women’s exclusive colour-ways, as it has over the last few seasons. Whilst the hues and models may have left social media unimpressed, the best of the group is clearly the women’s Nike Air Jordan 4.
This latest Off-White x Nike collaboration sees Virgil Abloh serve up a unique offering, signing off his trademark aesthetic on the classic Air Jordan design. The Off-WhiteTM x Nike Air Jordan 4 release is officially inspired by nude cosmetic tones and is the most affordable alternative to its limited-edition cousin.
The Air Jordan 4 “Shimmer” is available on September 3 on Nike’s official website and at select retailers.
Drake, Certified Lover Boy
Drake’s new album, Certified Lover Boy is set for release on September 3rd, according to an Instagram post the rapper made on Monday morning (August 30). Damien Hirst’s renowned polka-dot pattern appears on the official album cover, which features pregnant female emojis.
According to Tidal’s chief content officer, Elliott Wilson, Certified Lover Boy was announced in August with the Lil Durk duet “Laugh Now Cry Later,”. Originally set for release in January, it’s been subject to repeated postponement.
The album announcement follows a mystery ESPN commercial interruption last week, hinting at a September 3 release date. The mysterious footage is of a faceless man holding up a cardboard sign stating “CLB September 3”.
The cryptic teaser may be accepted “at face value,” according to a spokesman for Rolling Stone.
Supreme x New York Yankees
Supreme reveals their latest autumn collection in collaboration with the New York Yankees, ahead of the upcoming cold months. Featuring GORE-TEX 700-Fill Down Jackets, Track Jackets, Denim Trucker Jackets, and Hooded Sweatshirts – the silhouettes are available in neutral colours, as well as vibrant hoodie hues.
You can mix and match the S/S Tops with Track Pants, Sweatpants, or Jeans. Complete your ensemble with a New Era Fitted Hat or a New Era Beanie. The collaboration also offers a co-branded skateboard to their collection for the skaters out there. The New York Yankees x Supreme autumn collection will be available online in limited quantities.
Kanye West, DONDA drops w/ Balenciaga Merch
Kanye West’s highly anticipated album DONDA, finally hits fans after a series of marketing stunts. In addition to the 27-track album, the musician has released a line of merchandise in collaboration with Balenciaga. The 2024 Layer Longsleeve T-shirt, DONDA 2 Layer Longsleeve T-shirt, Black Hat, and Black Mask are all part of the “Engineered by Balenciaga” collection.
Fans of Kanye West (who has officially changed his name to “Ye”) have been busy speculating whether his relationship with ex-wife Kim Kardashian is back on. The pair performed a faux-wedding onstage at a DONDA listening party last week. Kim donned a white bridal gown for her arrival to the event; an item from Demna Gvasalia’s inaugural Haute Couture collection for Balenciaga, debuting earlier in the year. Gvasalia has been an integral component of West’s DONDA listening parties, serving as Creative Director for the second and continuing for the third, collaborating on merchandise and stage costumes in support of the release.
You can head to the official website now to shop the DONDA offerings, with a price point of $60 to $200 USD. Fans may pay an additional $10 USD for a digital download of the album in addition to their purchase.
BTS x Megan Thee Stallion, “Butter” remix
BTS and Megan Thee Stallion have collaborated to remix the smash single “Butter.”
The original BTS release spent nine weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 list. Megan’s large fan following (the Hotties) joining BTS’ global ARMY, might return the track back to the top.
Last week, Megan filed a temporary restraining order against her label 1501 Certified Entertainment. The star claims that they were preventing her from participating on the track. Megan’s interim injunction is being upheld by a court in Megan’s home state of Texas as of August 24. This allows her — and BTS — to continue in the marketing and release of the song.
