The iconic performer released the first teaser trailer for her upcoming two-part documentary, JANET, which is set to air simultaneously on Lifetime and A&E in January 2022.
The two-hour documentary about Janet Jackson, simply titled Janet, will premiere in January 2022 on Lifetime and A&E. The date is also in celebration of the star’s 40th anniversary of her debut album.
Jackson has released a teaser regarding her new documentary. It will see Jackson taking charge in telling the story of her life. We will be seeing many aspects of the singer’s story in full detail which includes her career and personal life.
The upcoming documentary will also show behind-the-scenes archival footage of Jackson in her defining career moments and family upbringing. In addition to how personal this film is for Janet, According to People, the documentary was more than “five years in the making” and began filming around 2018. The time of the death of the singer’s father, Joe Jackson.

Executive producers for “Janet” are both Janet and Randy Jackson with Ben Hirsch directing.
Taking Control of the Narrative
Janet will reportedly speak out on some of her most defining personal and professional moments, including her controversial 2004 Super Bowl performance with Justin Timberlake.
Jackson has also claimed to make the documentary as raw as possible. With topics such as her father, her motherhood and her brother Michael Jackson’s death, the documentary is bound to be an emotional rollercoaster.

A range of guests and other celebrities will also make an appearance. The teaser features a number of high-profile cameos from former collaborators and fellow creatives within Jackson’s close-knit circle. This includes Paula Abdul, Missy Elliott, and Mariah Carey speaking about Jackson’s impact as an artist and one of the most influential women in music history.
Janet is set to release simultaneously on Lifetime and A&E in January 2022.
