Brittany Murphy’s documentary trailer is finally here. Titled What Happened, Brittany Murphy? the two-part series is set to delve into the actor’s life, career, and untimely death at the age of 32.
The primary focus of the trailer is the Clueless star’s relationship with her husband Simon Monjack, who mysteriously died a few months after Murphy. Both of them were suffering from pneumonia and severe anemia.
Murphy was a captivating actress as effervescent on-screen as she was off. She was a rising star whose movies including 8 Mile and Clueless stand the test of time. Her premature passing has sparked a decade of speculation and conspiracy theories. Now, it is all set to be explored as part HBO Max documentary.
Gone Too Soon
An in-depth, intimate portrait of Murphy’s life and career, as well as her untimely death, will be shown. It will go beyond the conspiracy theories and headlines.
Archival footage and interviews by those closest to Murphy will also be featured.
In the first trailer for the documentary, actor Kathy Najimy, who was close with Murphy, describes how Murphy met Monjack during “a little dip” in her life. Specifically, It was during that period when Murphy lost weight and made a change in style to try and fit Hollywood’s “leading lady” standard. During this low moment, Murphy “became prey” for Monjack, Najimy says.
“Simon took her away,” a contributor says in the clip, “he made sure no one would get to her.”
Jennifer O’Connell of HBO Max, said in a press release,
