Australian pop legends Sheppard have just dropped their heartfelt Xmas ballad, “Christmas Without You”. This meaningful track and visually spectacular video closes an extraordinary year for the amazing family group.
“Christmas Without You” is a seasonal ballad, which will hit home for those missing a loved one this Christmas. Reflective, soft, and passionate, the song is the perfect Christmas number for 2021; festive piano and quiet bells drive the tune, whilst vocalist George Sheppard’s beautiful voice hovers above it. The song builds to a powerful, cathartic finale, well suited to the melancholy of a holiday season marred by the absence of loved ones.
A Household Name
The multi-award-winning Australian pop band is based in Brisbane. They debuted in 2009 with the release of their debut EP in 2012; including the hit “Let Me Down Easy” (3 x Platinum sales in Australia).
Sheppard’s first worldwide smash single, “Geronimo”, sold over 2 million copies in the United States. It was the most played song on Australian radio and the greatest selling single by an Australian artist in 2014 – taken from Sheppard’s debut album Bombs Away. George, Amy, and Emma Sheppard’s debut album earned them an ARIA for Best Group and propelled them to festival success.
Sheppard returned in 2018 with the sophomore album Watching the Sky, debuting at #1 on Australia’s ARIA chart. It’s received over 328 million Spotify streams worldwide, and it debuted at #1 on the AIR Indie Music chart 55 weeks after its release.
Since then, Sheppard has become a household name in Australia thanks to their anthemic, colourful, and dynamic brand of pop. Their 850 million streams across all platforms, including worldwide number ones secured them a coveted half-time performance slot at the AFL Grand Final last year.
Earlier in 2021, the band’s album Kaleidoscope Eyes reached number 2 on the ARIA charts. Their most recent previous hit, “Coming Home”, has over sixty million Spotify listens.
George, Amy, and Emma Sheppard, along with guitarist Jason Bovino and drummer Dean Gordon, have already accomplished more than most artists can hope for in a lifetime… And they’re only just getting started.
