Amidst Black Friday, Cyber Monday and pre-Christmas holiday sales, there are plenty of drops to keep you spending cash during the first week on December.
This week’s highlights include Juicy Couture x Emi Jay hair accessories, Beats x Union LA, Palace brings us some 90’s rave nostalgia with a Kappa collab & more.
Juicy Couture x Emi Jay
Emi Jay’s bestselling Big Effing Clips in six various varieties include the fashion label’s vintage insignia, which is typically seen on its renowned velour tracksuits.
Pink hues, as well as dazzling silver and animal designs, adorn the hair claws. Meanwhile, two velvet scrunchies appear, which can be utilised to tie up your hair or as a statement item on your wrists.
The 10-piece hair accessories collection is full of early Aughts nostalgia. Emi Jay explains,
“In the last year, we’ve really just as a whole embodied a lot of early 2000s trends,”
She continues, “A lot of girls were gravitating toward color coming out of quarantine, funkier hairstyles and brighter and bolder pieces. With a lot of our campaign imagery over the last year, we did pull a lot of early 2000s inspiration and Juicy [Couture] kind of picks up on that. They felt like OG Juicy [Couture] was so true to current day Emi Jay. We felt there was such a tie between the two brands.”
The Juicy Couture x Emi Jay line will be available only on the accessory brand’s website.
Palace x Kappa
Palace and Kappa’s first partnership for Fall 2021 is giving us British 90’s nostalgia.
Thru its collaborations with brands the likes of Adidas and Evisu, Palace often commemorates the 90’s / early 2000’s British youth subculture. This recent Kappa x Palace collaboration sees the pair put forward a series of jerseys, tracksuits, caps and accessories which delve into the Italian Kappa archive. Highlights include the iconic Kappa 222 Banda tracksuit and football boot bag, the classic v-neck football shirt with co-branded crests and old-school pattern work.
The Palace x Kappa Fall 2021 collection will be available on December 3 online and at Palace locations in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, as well as Dover Street Market in London and Los Angeles.
Beats x Union LA
Following on from Beats’ recent A-Cold-Wall* and Don Toliver campaigns, the brand now pairs up with streetwear company Union LA. This Studio Buds drop delivers a meaningful collaboration, honouring Black creatives. Union LA have teamed up with everyone from Cactus Plant Flea Market to ESSENTIALS to Needles this year. Now, they’ve cranked the throttle for their 30th anniversary.
Vince Staples co-signs Union’s Studio Buds in accompanying campaign imagery and also appears in “Home Sweet Home”; accompanying short film that sees him being introduced to the Buds by the Gibbs.
“Union has always championed local and Black art, music and fashion, and their LA store on La Brea is one of my favorite places to shop,”
Staples continues.
“Beats and Union are family, so this campaign felt really authentic to be a part of.”
Union’s collaboration with Beats has resulted in the Beats Studio Buds; the first of the last to hit the market this year.
Union founders Chris and Beth Gibbs tell Snobriety,
“Music is the lifeblood of our store, so when Beats approached us, we were excited to work with them on these Buds. Collaboration is almost as important as music”.
This new collaboration has a clear aim in mind: to empower Black creatives. The packaging and colours of the Buds are inspired by the hues of the Pan-African flag to reflect Union LA’s past as a Black-owned business. The Union’s Frontman logo has been rendered on the Buds’ casing.
Gucci feat. Kai
Gucci is celebrating the holidays with a special commercial, set in a beautiful winter paradise. Global brand spokesperson KAI features in the campaign, wearing pieces from the Aria collection.
The South Korean, K-pop boy band member (EXO), is photographed in the twilight. He also features in a short film, dancing in the snowy countryside, wearing the capsule’s crisp suits and warm outerwear pieces.
The Aria range of ready-to-wear includes traditional tote bags, scarves, and sneakers featuring the trademark GG canvas and design, as well as tricot knitwear.
The collection also features a rich camel cloak and clever cable knit sweater with detachable sleeves, an all-year-round essential.
