Ever wondered what a high-fashion take on iconic Matrix imagery might look like? Oscar de la Renta has got you covered.
Carrie-Anne Moss, set to be reprising her iconic role as Trinity in The Matrix Resurrections, wore a very on-theme gown to the film’s premiere in San Francisco. Moss lit up the red carpet in a custom black tulle Oscar de la Renta gown, stylised with embellished silver and green sequins mimicking the series’ famous “digital rain.”
Leather trench coats and black sunglasses were nowhere to be seen, with Keanu Reeves wearing a charcoal Brunello Cucinelli suit and grey tie. Other premiere attendees include Anok Yai, wearing red knotted and draped Jawara Alleyne in a warrior-style runway look. Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris also made appearances.
Lana Wachowski recently spoke on her decision to bring back the series after experiencing the deaths of her parents and a close family friend.
“My brain has always reached into my imagination and one night, I was crying and I couldn’t sleep, and my brain exploded this whole story. And I couldn’t have my mum and dad, yet suddenly I had Neo and Trinity, arguably the two most important characters in my life. It was immediately comforting to have these two characters alive again.”
The Matrix Resurrections hits theatres and HBO Max from Dec. 22.
