Originally announced a couple of years ago that the reboot was in development, more insight is being shared this year. Executives at Universal had reportedly been meeting with several directors for the project. While the rumours are officially TBC, director Leigh Whannell is currently the number 1 suspected to direct. Whannell most recently directed “Saw” and “The Invisible Man”.

Universal was able to get their hands on the film script “Green Hornet and Kato”. The script comes from filmmaker and writer David Koepp earlier this year. Koepp is the writer for the original Jurassic Park, as well as the first Mission Impossible movie.

According to Cinema Blend, Universal is extremely happy with the script. Once they pick a director, it won’t take long for production to begin.

STORYLINE

The basis of the story follows a wealthy publisher, Britt Reid. In addition to being wealthy, his character also has a good heart. Disguising himself at night behind a mask, he takes on the challenge of fighting crime with a side-kick.

A classic superhero plot.

The original film starred Van Williams and Bruce Lee. The second adaptation starred Seth Rogan, Cameron Diaz, David Harbour and Christoph Waltz.

WHO WILL STAR?

A good cast can make or break any film. The original film had two iconic actors to fill the roles. Fans will be eager to see what actors Universal and the director has in store for this next reboot!

One fan on Twitter put forth their ideas for who should star in the next reboot.
