Pink is the new black. Ever since we broke out of our Covid trackpants we’ve been donning fun, party colouring, and even goths are coming on board. Ever since we played with Barbie, pink has been the iconic colour for just that: playtime. It is fun, fake, and essentially plastic. Think wide smiles, Margot Robbie, stretchy fitted dresses and love hearts.
But we are wondering if Margot Robbie has been miscast, and Megan Fox should have got the role of ‘Barbie’. She has been rocking Barbiecore for some time now, and MGK has matched her, if not with hair, with clothing in the same bubblegum hue.
This could be due to the “Life in Pink” documentary on her fiancé, Machine Gun Kelly. At the premiere, both Fox and MGK wore pink, but in differing shades. She was in light pink hair and a barely there mini dress by Nensi Dojaka with pink strappy heels. He had a deeper pink hair hue, fake pearls and a pink and blue crop top.
Some are saying this is a move away from Fox’s gothic style, but the truth is, goths and pink have been happening for quite some time now. And so has Machine Gun Kelly.
The point is, pink is the new black, and if Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly can do Barbiecore, so can anybody. And it’s not a move away for Goths, but a welcome home.
