Yes, we’d all rather be watching the shows from the front row next to Anna Wintour. But here’s the next best thing – stream Paris Fashion Week couture runways live from your living room. London Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week – next on the agenda? Paris Fashion Haute Couture Week! A celebration of fashion, held in France’s capital city featuring runway shows from all our favourite designers.
No longer are fashion weeks an exclusive event – so it’s okay if you miss the live-action. Fashion week is now a showcase of couture and fashion ingenuity that is accessible to everyone, from anywhere. Thanks to digital screenings that is.
Most fashion houses opt to live stream their shows these days. This is after a successful run online during COVID. Almost all of the couture shows are available to watch on the websites, as well as on Facebook. Online events are even created for the occasion. Chanel, Loewe, Marine Serre, Dior, Saint Laurent, and Givenchy are just some of the designers whose shows you can access live from Paris.
But as Couture Week returns, there is a lot more than just runway in store. The four-day-long event features moments of artistic and fantastical fashion. Chanel, Dior, Schiaparelli, and Giorgio Armani Privé are all preparing to debut new collections. Meanwhile, Balenciaga is stealing the spotlight this year. The fashion house opened a new couture store on July 6; with the catwalk show running on the same day. The show ran in the brand’s original couture atelier from 1937 near the Champs-Elysées.
Check out more highlights below…
Balenciaga
Since Creative Director Demna took over the iconic house in 2015, the world has bowed down to all things Balenciaga; thanks to his irreverent perspective on luxury. When he reintroduced the label to the haute couture schedule for the first time since 1968, it was a big deal for the company.
This year marks the brand’s 51st couture collection. For it, Gvasalia recruits the support of some of his VIP friends to showcase his Fall 2022-23 Haute Couture collection. The runway lineup includes Kim Kardashian, Dua Lipa, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell and more.
Jean-Paul Gaultier
Olivier Rousteing is the creator behind the most recent Haute Couture collection for Jean-Paul Gaultier, and he doesn’t disappoint. Rousteing pays tribute to some of the designer’s most memorable moments and designs, including the spring 1994 Les Tatouages collection, the iconic Madonna dress, the traditional sailor silhouette, and the designer’s perfume bottles.
Viktor & Rolf
Viktor & Rolf amplify last season’s exaggerated necklines and shapes. This time, the focus is on the classic suit, serving as the beginning point for styles. Its dimensions and proportions are exaggerated to create the illusion that the garments are floating above the models’ heads. The second part of the exhibition features proportions that are more relaxed and comfortable.
