ANATOMICAL WAXES: FONDAZIONE PRADA X DAVID CRONENBERG EXHIBITION

Research is always at the core of Fondazione Prada’s approach. As seen in some of their previous exhibitions; “Human Brains” and “Recycling Beauty”. “Anatomical Waxes” promises to captivate and challenge viewers in new and spine-chilling ways. The show runs from March 24th to July 17th, 2023.

Unveiling Anatomical Wonders

Divided into two parts; the first features thirteen eighteenth-century wax models, sourced from the esteemed collection of La Specola. These creations offer a view into the intricate world of anatomy, rendered with astonishing craftsmanship.

The second part presents a series of seventy-two display copies of anatomical drawings. Each acts as a testament to the power of artistic expression in depicting the human form. Together, these two parts form an immersive experience.

Decoding Cronenberg

Renowned director David Cronenberg is known for his distinctive sci-fi horror genre and his fascination with the fragility and transformation of the human body. In this exhibition, Cronenberg’s films, sculptures, and installations challenge viewers’ perceptions of the human form, blurring the boundaries between art and science. To complement the physical exhibition, Cronenberg has created a captivating short film featuring four of the wax models.
