After almost five years since the release of Astroworld, Travis Scott is gearing up to present his newest album, Utopia. The rapper has been teasing the project through billboards scattered around LA for several months now.
The rapper has announced that he will host a special launch event for the long-awaited record at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on July 28.
While you can still access the purchase page, the event sold out within 30 minutes – with over 50,000 people trying to buy tickets. While more tickets might become available, it’s clear that only a lucky few are going to be able to witness the event in person.
The event will be live-streamed at 9pm on the 28th. Not the most convenient for the Australian fans who will be tuning in at 4am on the 29th.
Merch, Art and More
A range of merchandise packs are available for purchase on the website, including shirts, hoodies, records, and CDs.
According to a press release, the show promises to be an immersive experience that will transport fans to the world of Utopia. The album is going to feature five individual artworks. However, none of these are public yet.
Utopia will mark Travis Scott’s first full-length studio album since Astroworld in 2018. With a rumoured original release date in 2021, we can only assume that the disaster that is Astroworld carries the responsibility of pushing it back.
As the date draws near, fans are anxiously waiting to see what Travis Scott has in store with Utopia. Will it live up to the high expectations set by Astroworld, or will it take his music in a different direction? Only time will tell.
