Luxury fashion house Valentino is taking on the digital realm of fashion. Announcing a partnership with Meta, Valentino is offering a capsule collection of digital avatar outfits.
The collection launched on July 14th with six fully branded looks for men and women. The collection allows users to dress their Meta avatars which are available for all Meta platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, and the platform’s virtual reality experiences.
Valentino’s virtual capsule takes inspiration from their latest collections. A variety of head-turning pieces consisting of two mini dresses, a skintight jumpsuit, a suit jacket, a bomber jacket, a t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a pair of shorts.
Fans of Valentino will surely appreciate the signature toile Iconography featuring the brand’s logo, as well as the house’s bright Pink PP colour seen in the dress and bomber jacket. The collection also includes the newly released Valentino Garavani Rockstud ballerinas, the perfect final touch for any avatar.
The designer pieces are going to range in price from $2.99 to $8.99. Meta is sharing the revenue with the brand.
In an article on Vogue, Valentino released a statement sharing that the move was part of their strategy in taking “a step forward towards commerce in the metaverse” by exploring the possibilities of digital fashion.
“Encouraging individuality and building community is a constant conversation and exploration. Over the years, digital communities have strengthened this pursuit, building an even more powerful, open-to-all ethos.”
Valentino among many other fashion brands have joined the metaverse train-waggon to revolutionise fashion as we know it. We think now is the perfect time to start styling our avatars for the digital world.
