Is it happening? HAIM might be collaborating with the beloved British Producer Jai Paul.
HAIM recently made an appearance on BBC Radio 6 host Lauren Laverne’s music show. It was post their performance as the headliner at London’s All Points East. The sister trio Alana, Danielle, and Este Haim discussed their debut album Days Are Gone’s 10th anniversary with Laverne. The trio also hyped their forthcoming music which they’ve been doing since January, by mentioning some guests they’ve had in the studio including Jai Paul.
According to Pitchfork, HAIM have been huge fans of Jai Paul since a long time. In 2014, Danielle Haim praised Paul in The Wall Street Journal. A year after, it was revealed in a piece in The Fader that Danielle had texted the British producer to express her gratitude.
Regarding their future plans, one of the group’s members said, “We’ve been working with some cool people… We played Jai Paul earlier; we might’ve been in the studio with him” they revealed before adding: “We may or may not have been in the studio with him”. After further probing, they said that they, “cannot confirm or deny.”
Headlining Coachella
Ten years after his debut album Bait Ones was leaked, Paul performed as the headlining act at Coachella this year. He then immediately followed that with a headline performance in London, which sold out in a flash. The producer has kept out of the public eye over the past decade, with the festival marking first live performance since then. He has more performances lined up for later this year and has recently released Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones) on vinyl.
Seems like fans will have to wait and see what the trio and Paul have planned for the HAIM collaboration.
