DAY 50 “THE HISTORY OF HONG KONG” ’80DAYS’ Round the World Travel Series with Paul G Roberts

It’s DAY 50 and I want to do a deep dive on the History of Hong Kong, which is a city I love to visit.

Hong Kong, a beacon of modernity, a crossroads of the past and the future. Here, in this city-state on the southern coast of China, history is alive… Hong Kong is a city-state located on the southern coast of China. It is one of the most important financial centers in the world and is known for its bustling harbour, skyline, and cultural heritage.

Hong Kong has a rich history..beginning over 5,000 years ago, where early settlers harnessed the land and the sea.
that spans over 5,000 years.

Reenactors depicting Han Dynasty merchants travel along a bustling trade route. CGI structures emerge to represent the growth of early civilization. The city has been under the rule of several dynasties, including the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing. In the 19th century, Hong Kong was ceded to the British Empire, and it remained under British rule until 1997 when it was handed over to China. In this essay, we will explore the history of Hong Kong from ancient times to the present day.
