In case you haven’t already heard, Katy Perry’s half time performance during the Super Bowl was almost legendary and definitely spectacular. The pop star was joined onstage by Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot, rode a giant, prismatic lion puppet and sung a 12 minute medley to the massive audience that included celebrities like Britney Spears, Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Chris Pratt. Oh and thanks to Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott, she looked astounding while doing it.

Bold and quirky designer Jeremy Scott created a total of four intricate masterpieces for Perry to wear for her big performance, with flames, stars and sparkles.

Perry’s opening saw the diva singing to “Roar” as she graced the stage on a gigantic lion puppet, and dressed in a gold dress engulfed in bold red and gold flames. This outfit had perhaps the most difficult elements to create, according to the innovative designer.

“The leather flame piece was extremely intricate. It’s all airbrushed leather that’s been treated so it’s gold patent leather at the end, an ombré effect for the flame look. Black leather was sewn down as a kind of binding around the edge to make it very defined. The jacket coordinates as when they meet, they match up, so even though it’s two pieces, the flames continue. That piece was a very daunting piece from patterns to execution to make it have that effect and make it performance-ready.”

Up next came the fun, beach ball inspired costume for “California Gurls”. The two-piece outfit definitely oozed with California girl-esque, in vibrant reds, blues and yellows. And even amongst polkadot bikini-clad backup dancers and dancing surfboards and sharks, her outfit did not lose any of its charm.

For the next part of her performance, Perry was joined by a pretty special guest, and her outfit channeled what her guest is famous for – hip-hop – although with a bit more sparkle. Missy Elliott joined Perry, who was now decked out in a black hoodie with crystals and the number 49 on it.

“A little bit sporty and old school and, you know, play with all that, so we did the bling-bling hoodie with the sports numbers to capture that kind of look so she’d meld into Missy’s world for a moment,” Scott told Style.com.

Then comes the jaw-dropping finale – a stunning, bedazzling gown boasting a myriad of holographic stars.

“We were talking about Old Hollywood mixed with sci-fi, glamour, a 1950s B-movie kind of situation,” Scott said. “I love this dress because it’s a full-on red carpet Barbie extravaganza. She’ll have a slit leg and a glamorous element but with the volume turned up to almost cartoon level. I made the dress in holographic silver mylar, and the stars stay afloat with clear wire that jets from the shoulders. And the sequins on this gown—some of them are the size of your whole hand. It’s her finale moment—it has to be show-stopping.

She also somehow managed to change into each new outfit in seconds without even leaving the stage.
