AFTER THE LOCKOUTS
The Search for Sydney’s Missing Nightlife

AFTER THE LOCKOUTS is a special feature film by Paul G Roberts and Fashion Industry Broadcast / Style Planet TV. It explores the many devastating effects that the LOCKOUT LAWS have had on the night culture and overall vibrancy of Sydney.

Shot across Sydney, Melbourne, and various cities in Europe it provides a thought provoking expose on the role of Government law making and its impact on culture and civil liberties.

The film goes looking for the truth, and leaves no stone unturned in its quest to cut through the emotion, misinformation and vested interests. This search uncovers that there is a battle going for the very soul of Sydney, a city who’s Nightlife at the time of the 2000 Olympics was the envy of every world class modern metropolis.

Now the once legendary social precincts of Kings Cross and Bohemian Oxford St’s are ghost towns at night, and the NSW Government’s installed “Nanny State” gives its citizens a curfew when they need to be in bed by. And despite the gallant efforts of Keep Sydney Open, there is no indication that a correction can be expected any time soon.

Not content to just record and observe the issues, this film proposes a brave alternative to curfews on hospitality venues. An alternative that is designed to champion the value of culture, the arts, social liberties, and defines a real set of strategies and initiatives to keep Sydney both safe and vibrant at night.

THE HISTORY OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

Great photographs can elicit thoughts, feelings, and emotions when words simply will not suffice. Throughout history, there have been many important people in the field of photography who have used their cameras to catch a single moment in time to tell a story.

In this film FIB examines some of the people and forces that helped pave the way for the great photographers of today, each of whom now challenge the image and fashion making world to accept new ideas of beauty and story telling. We hear from many leading current day artists, creative directors, fashion editors and advertising legends on how this art form and its pioneers shaped their lives.

But the art of a good fashion campaign of editorial isn’t set in stone; fashion photography, like art, has movements defined by its leading talents and the prevailing cultural zeitgeist. To understand them both a little better, and see how we arrived at where we are today, we’ve compiled a look back at some of the most important moments in the history of fashion photography over the past 100 years.

THE SUGAR SYNDROME

The Sugar Syndrome takes into the seductive world of Sugaring. A place that promises that if, “I’m rich and you’re hot”, a mutually beneficial trade may be made. But things are never quite that simple, as many young Sugar Babies seek not only to enter into mutually beneficial Arrangements, some have even more extreme desires. And then there are the dangerous predators who lurk unseen.

An up to the minute erotic thriller set in the age of the internet. A story of obsession, madness, and forbidden passions. The story moves from the Movie Studio’s of Hollywood to the lavish Swingers clubs of Paris, and then unfolds in modern day NYC where we find Academy Award winning screenplay writer Jack Steele a broken man, desolate after the murder of his wife and daughter. Steele begins researching a material for a new film and finds himself drawn into the world of Sugar babies and Arrangements.

At the same time a series of murders is taking place in the 5 Boroughs of NYC, 4 girls in 4 months have been murdered in a grisly fashion. Will Caroline be number 5 ? The one common link for all the dead girls is that they have all been listed as Sugar Babies seeking an “Arrangement” on the Sugar Sugar site. The NYC Homicide Police have a massive manhunt underway to try and track down the serial killer before another Sugar Baby is found murdered.

As Steele continues his interactions on the Sugar Sugar site he becomes more and more consumed by the Sugar Babies, and specifically Caroline. Steele becomes drawn into Caroline’s dark S&M fantasies which have a dramatic and shocking ending.
