Mimi Xu transcends not only genres, but also job titles. Mimi in conjunction with her team forms a dynamic and well-rounded music direction, composition and sound design. Mimi is heavily involved in the production of fashion shows, films and artistic events.
Mimi dj’s under the pseudonym “Misty Rabbit”, and in early 2014 teamed up with Rosey Chan, a renowned pianist and composer. Together, they launched Carnet de Voyage – “Traveling Notebook” in English – at the 2014 Meltdown Festival. The live performance is a cinematic, sonic and visual expedition through musical history, culture and a personal memoir. Diverse and even conflicting genres of music are visited during the performance, and a truly unique, wholly consuming experience is created for the audience due to their original compositions and films.
Mimi’s multiple projects, such as her writing as a culture and lifestyle contributor for style.com and musical endeavours provided outside attention to the Carnet de Voyage, thus expanding the duos fan base, solidifying future slots at festivals, and of course, deepening and expanding their artistry.
