With the Oscars a mere week away it’s hard to hide from Leonardo DiCaprio related news stories. Considering 2016 is now officially ‘the year of Leo’ according to long time friend and Titanic co-star Kate Winslet it is almost unsurprising that two DiCaprio dopplegangers have emerged, confusing and exciting the internet.
While our new Swedish DiCaprio, musician/bartender Konrad Annerud resembles the rugged care free 90’s heartthrob actor who won over the hearts and minds of everyone everywhere. He claims the almost fame comes at a high price. A recent trip to Italy giving him a glimpse into the life of the Golden Globe winner. Ah the woes of hitting the genetic lottery.

Our second favourite Leo coming to us from Russia has spent the last 33 years as an average Joe, working in Law enforcement and if Annerud is Leo’s ghost of Christmas past then Roman Burtsev is his ghost of Christmas future. However the 33 year old is cashing in on his likeness announcing the new reality television show ‘Romance with DiCaprio’ .
The program will follow Roman Burtsev on his quest to find out what looking like DiCaprio means to him and those around. From re-enacting Titanic scenes at local malls with eager woman, Revenant/Oscar centric spoofs and begging on the streets for money this series will follow Burtsev on his quest of DiCaprio discovery. Embracing the similarities Burtsev will undergo diets, makeover and occasional dates to find if he las the Leo factor.
The real Leo is yet to confirm or deny whether he will be feature on the show. In actuality he has made no comments about the bombardment of dopplegangers worldwide. For now and most likely eternity we’ll have to be content dreaming about what an encounter between dopplegangers would entail and try to track down a translated version of the Russian reality show.
Who knows, maybe Russian Leo will get a shoutout in American Leo’s predicted Oscar speech, or American Leo will swap places with Russian Leo in a Parent Trap-esque escapade after another Oscars snub.
