British fashion designer Stella McCartney will be launching a menswear collection for the Spring/Summer 2017 season.
WWD reports that McCartney plans to launch her first collection for men later this year. Interestingly, a spokesperson for the brand won’t confirm or deny the speculation to WWD or British Vogue.
The London-based designer was announced as creative director at Chloé, back in 1997, before announcing the start of her own fashion brand in 2001. As daughter of Paul McCartney, Stella spent the last 15 years making high-end ladies fashion.
She made a movement towards expansion with the release of her kidswear collection in 2010 and has been consistently growing her brand since then. Her collaboration with Adidas had seen an interesting adaptation of active wear, with an interesting combination of comfort and ‘athleisure’. After venturing into the realm of sportswear, McCartney was given the opportunity to dress the British Olympic team in 2012, and will retain her role in conjunction with Adidas, for the Rio Olympics to be held later this year.
Make sure you hold on tight, as the designer has promised a number of exciting projects to be released throughout the next year.
In preparation for their ready-to-wear Autumn/Winter 2016 show in Paris, the brand has given no comment on the menswear line. The brand is known for its informal and comfortable design, which if harnessed correctly would be an excellent way to appeal to Everyman. With her successful career in women’s fashion and previous experience in menswear, McCartney should prove to be a competitive addition to the world of men’s fashion.
