John Krasinski Is The New Jack Ryan

John Krasinski has held a special place in all our hearts since coming onto our screens as Jim Halpert in NBC’s wildly successful Office remake. Since then we have swooned, laughed and created the odd google alert just to see how he’s going. It turns out when he’s not hanging out with his mega babe wife Emily Blunt, producing hit’s like Lip Sync Battle and having mini reunions with on screen wife and ultimate bae Jenna Fischer he is auditioning and securing roles like that of iconic Jack Ryan.

Amazon TV’s new series is being co-created by Lost writer Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland. While an official script is yet to be written the show is expected to go straight to series once writing gets underway.

The premise of the show is set to differ from the original books written by Tom Clancy. Previous adaptations of the story have arisen before now in film form. Originally played by Alec Baldwin in 1990, Harrison Ford followed, then Ben Affleck and Chris Pine respectively. The series will delve into more detail regarding Ryan’s time as a CIA analyst/operative and will call to the original series as source material rather than following the novel like the films have previously done.

This new endeavour is one in a long line of John Krasinski’s attempt to tackle serious roles. Currently starring alongside Claire Danes in the off Broadway production of Dry Powder and recently released Michael Bay film 13 HoursIt seems his versatility knows no bounds.

With the last Jack Ryan film (Jack Ryan: Shadow hunter) just coming short of success it will be interesting to see if the new series will allow the beloved CIA agent to reaffirm his place as one of our favs. We think it’s safe to say that Krasinski has the power to make it happen.
