Sean Lennon teams up with Les Claypool of Primus for an epic sonic journey.
Sean Lennon has always been a bit of an interesting one. The first and only son between John Lennon and Yoko Ono, music has been part of Lennon’s life since he could remember.
Before the release of his first solo LP in 1998, Sean had worked on various songs and projects with his mother and with musicians such as Lenny Kravtiz. Sean also featured a role in Michal Jackson’s Moonwalker film in 1988, as the chubby-cheeked… Sean.
From there, his musical resume only became increasingly impressive. He recorded albums with Albert Hammond Jnr. of The Strokes, and with his own mother Yoko Ono and the Plastic Ono Band. He’s also written several film scores and solo albums. One to definitely check out is Friendly Fire.
Whimsical melodies and unusual, delightful harmonies intertwine in a fairy-tale of revenge, dreamy metaphors of being in love, and then a plea for a lover to forget everything they shared with their once significant other.
After Friendly Fire, Lennon began another project with girlfriend and model Charlotte Kemp-Muhl titled GOASTT (Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger). The songs were of a grittier, more psychedelic nature. Previous interviews revealed that the project was a way for the couple to spend more time together, as the two were constantly busy with work commitments.
In 2016, Lennon has teamed up with Les Claypool of Primus to form The Claypool Lennon Delirium and produce one of the coolest albums of the year. The two met when GOASTT opened for Primus at a festival last year. They got along really well with each other and then Claypool invited Lennon to his home in California. Aside from making music, the two fished and picked mushrooms. “Sean was fascinated by the ones that would kill you,” said Claypool.
As for the actual songs, the duo’s album is probably some of the coolest music to come out of 2016, so far. They sing about structures on Mars, voice their antagonism towards the large pharmaceutical companies in America, all in Beatle-esque tunes and “notes that other people hate.”

What about Julian Lennon, the first child of John from his first marriage? Aside from being “pissed off” about Britain’s leave from the EU, he’s co-authoring a children’s book with Bart Davis, author of the recent biography on Richard Williams, the father of Serena and Venus Williams.
Lennon says that the books are an interactive concept, “one part story, one part journey, and one part pledge to make the world a better, cleaner place.”
The books are also a means of bringing together the child and parent, so that they can both learn something about the environment while enjoying bedtime stories together. “There weren’t too many bedtime stories read, sadly, in my childhood. But that’s where I’m hoping to make up for this, for others,” says Lennon.
