Kate Moss And Nick Knight Hit Back At The Paparazzi

Fashion photographer, Nick Knight, and super model, Kate Moss, have collaborated to introduce the new “Anti T-Shirt”, designed to send a message to intrusive paparazzi in a not so polite phrase. A seemingly basic black t-shirt, until the flash light bulb strikes the material and reveals the words ‘F**K YOU C**T’. The t-shirt has been devised to illuminate specifically for the paparazzi, chasing the models who crave privacy.

Nick Knight was motivated to create this garment and online video as a reaction to how his friend, Kate Moss was treated by the paparazzi.

“After seeing footage of a pack of around 20 male paparazzi pursuing Kate Moss and her baby daughter at LAX airport in Los Angeles to the point where she was reduced to hiding under her suitcase as they continued to relentlessly photograph her, I wanted to make a T-shirt that would give her some way of speaking her mind.” – Nick Knight wrote on Instagram.

The Anti T-Shirt is available for purchase on SHOWstudio for US$80.00.

This is not the first time that fashion has been used as a tool to rebuke the paparazzi. Dutch-born fashion designer Saif Siddiqui has designed a scarf that reflects the light from a flash back into the camera. Effectively it blacks out the subject’s face. Dubbed as the ISHU scarf, many celebrities have worn the scarf including Cameron Diaz and Joe Jonas in an attempt to disguise their celebrity faces from the cameras.

The creator was inspired when a photograph was taken of him using an iPhone.

“He noticed that the bike’s reflector manipulated the flash of his mobile camera in a way that obscured the faces of his friends in the picture.”  (From the ISHU website).

Saif then recruited a group of experts in the  science of light and reflection to devise the scarf.

In London, DJ Chris Holmes, who tours with Paul McCartney, has designed a hoodie, scarf and hat. This clothing reflects the light from the flash obscuring the face of the person being photographed. He was moved to create these pieces after wearing reflective clothing to performances. He observed the camouflaging effect of the flash on his identity.

“I noticed that photos from those shows always looked odd, because the flash that bounced off my clothing would obscure most everything else.” Chris Holmes says.

“While I wasn’t thrilled that many of these photos were ruined, it gave me an epiphany: perhaps I could use this technology for a greater purpose – like making paparazzi photos worthless” He says.

These fashion devices do not disguise photographs taken without a flash.

Kate Moss appears in one of the many clips with a ski mask over her face. A caption appears announcing her support for the LGBTI community. Then at the end of the clip she removes the mask revealing herself as Kate Moss.
