The American actress is best known for playing the stylish Rachel Zane on “Suits”, but her fashion addiction is not restricted to the TV show. Like the Duchess of Cambridge, Meghan had developed a tremendously admired personal style, and seems to starting a few trends of her own.

Meghan defines her style as ‘classic an relaxed’, which is evident as she can often be seen in monochromatic and classic pieces. In her wardrobe, she mixes dresses, jeans, skirts, blazers and cropped jackets. In a recent interview with Matches Fashion’s website, Meghan compares her taste versus her character on Suits.

“My personal style it’s a lot more relaxed than Rachel’s. If I think about my style icons, I love Géraldine Saglio and Emmanuelle Alt. I also love that French way of styling, where if your outfit is pulled together, then something’s got to be dishevelled – your hair, your make-up. Whereas with Rachel, everything is just polished and perfect. There’s something really pretty about effortless beauty”, said.

Her excellent taste in clothes makes Meghan an ‘it girl’ in fashion world. For that reason, she created the site “The Tig”, where she writes about fashion, food and lifestyle. In addition, the actress designed a collection for the Canadian retail store, Reitmans earlier this year.

“It wasn’t my dream to have a line or do collaboration. That’s not how I went into this. But as I started to work with them, I was reminded that, growing up, my mom had all these little piecemeal jobs, one of which was her own little clothing line. She made dresses, and I remember going with her to downtown L.A. to the fabric mart and visiting her pattern maker; she would sell these dresses on the side and I loved watching her do that”, remember her, in a chat with a reporter from “The Globe and Mail”.

But the new crush of Prince Harry it has not always been a fashion icon; she had an interest in the subject, but admits that she learn a lot about the designers and what fit in her body with her character, Rachel.

“I used to try to wear what people told me looked great, as opposed to what I was comfortable in. Now, the designer I wear so often on the red carpet is Lanvin– just beautifully crafted, simple silhouettes. Wear what makes you comfortable, and isn’t going to make you cringe in three years when you see the photo. I’m not very trend driven. I’ll pepper it in here and there, but invest in classic pieces and you’ll never regret it”.

For all these reasons, Meghan Markle is a fashion iconic that is worth watching – with or without the princess status.
