The trailer for Christopher Nolan’s eagerly anticipated World War II epic Dunkirk dropped last week and dominated social media buzz.
The film is a retelling of the rescue of Allied forces from the French beaches during one of the fiercest battles of World War II. For those of us who are eagerly awaiting Christopher Nolan’s directorial return to the big screen since the mammoth space sci-fi film Interstellar, this trailer only fuels anticipation. It promises the return of Nolan’s eye for spectacular visuals by showcasing aerial bombardments, sinking ships and the ravages of war in just over two minutes. Also filmed entirely on large format 65mm and IMAX film, it is sure to feature stunning cinematography.
The film stars British heavyweight thespians Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh, as well as the talented Nolan stalwarts Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy. Former teenage boyband heartthrob and relative newcomer to the big screen, Harry Styles makes his big acting debut and rounds out the cast.
The film is likely to do huge business over the US summer blockbuster season when it hits theatres on July 21, 2017 and faces off against Luc Besson’s sci-fi adventure film, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Check out the trailer below!
