Taylor Bennett – an independent rapper from Chicago and brother to famed Chance the Rapper- has shared the short film Broad Shoulders last week.
The video is of the same title as Bennett’s impressive sample free 10-track debut album that was released in late 2015. The film features songs from the album which acted as inspiration for the love story.
The 13-minute film follows a young couple, the male played by Bennett, as they fall in love and find themselves navigating a turbulent relationship.
The short film includes the musing ethereal track Wasting Time as well as H.Y.B.L (How You Been Lately) which includes some of the more hostile lyrics from the album. Of course, the long-awaited track Broad Shoulders that features his brother Chance The Rapper was also included. Chance The Rapper had waited until he felt that his brother had made his name in his own right before they collaborated; the result being the soulful, standout track of the album.
Earlier this year Bennett made headlines when he expressed his support for the LGBTQIA community when he came out as bisexual through a Twitter post the day before his 21st birthday.
Bennett is a rising name in hip-hop and has proven his talents in music with his combination of upbeat sounds and emotionally perceptive lyrics. His growing fan base is eagerly awaiting new music.
