Dev Hynes – aka Blood Orange – has teamed up with Bryndon Cook the musician behind Starchild & The New Romantic to form the duo VeilHymn. They announced the team up through the release of their track “Hymn”. The result of the pairing is a stunning, mellifluous track with an infectious groove.
The track features Cook on the main vocals with Hynes taking on the role of producer. The impassioned lyrics combined with Cooks falsettos are mesmerising.
The song explores the pain of letting go of a failing relationship with intimate lyrics like “It’s just like nothing else matters/ I can’t get a hold of you/ I can’t get a grip”.
Blood Orange has developed an impressive catalogue of music as a singer, songwriter and producer since the 2011 release of his album Coastal Grooves.
Since 2011 he has released two more albums, the most recent Freetown Sound in 2016. He has also collaborated with some of the most influential artists in the world right now including FKA twigs, Solange and Vince Staples.
Bryndon Cook has toured for Solange Knowles as a member of her band while he was still in college as well as having collaborated with Patrick Wemberly who is one half of the duo Chairlift. Cook has also released 3 EPs under the moniker Starchild & The New Romantic.
Fans will be keenly anticipating more music from the new formed duo in the future.
