The theme of the season is infinitely adaptable, ever changing weather and Sydney sure turned it on. With St Mary’s Cathedral providing the impressive backdrop and Sydney rain chiming in to supply the atmospheric vibes it couldn’t have been a more perfect or fitting scene. The hotly anticipated bi-annual event was preceded by the launch of Autumn/Winter 2017 campaign fronted by Karlie Kloss. Directed by London-based film director Ujin Lin, the “Live Outside the Seasons” campaign features Kloss alongside models Ruby-Jean Wilson, Yifan Zhang and Zoe Barnard battling the elements in the most stylish dress.
VIP attendees filed into the clear structure, mingled and sipped on Bollinger champagne before settling in to watch the highly anticipated runway show. Among the stars were new mum Lara Worthington, The Night Manager star Elizabeth Debicki, model Megan Blake Irwin, AFL legend Adam Goodes (also a David Jones ambassador) accompanied by wife Natalie Croker, and power couple Terry Biviano and Anthony Minichiello. The cavalcade of design talent at the show included Kym Ellery, Simone Zimmermann, Beth and Tess MacGRaw from macgraw, Kit Willow of KitX and Camilla Freeman-Topper and Marc Freeman of Camilla and Marc. Store ambassadors Jessica Gomes, Jesinta Franklin and Jason Dundas were all on hand to strut down the runway, as were Australian models Bridget Malcolm and Charlee Fraser. Rounding out the cast of runway talent was leading light Karlie Kloss who opened and closed the show.
