It looks like Disney’s best kept secret is finally revealed…
Since 2014, it has been unclear whether Keira Knightly would return to the role of Elizabeth Swan in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean instalment, until now. The newly released international trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, provides an ever so short glimpse at Knightly reprising her role.
Knightly has been fairly adamant about not returning to the franchise. Knightly last appeared in 2007’s Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. “It was an amazing point in my life, but it was a good five-year chunk. It was incredible, but I can’t really imagine going back to it” said Knightly in 2014. In 2015, it was announced that Orlando Bloom would be reprising his role as Will Turner but no mention was made of Keira Knightly’s character. However, last year it was reported that Knightly was spotted around the set for a one-day shoot.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sees the return of Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) searching for the trident of Poseidon whilst being pursued by an otherworldly creature from his past, Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem). The film also stars Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Brenton Thwaites.
