Paramore just returned in spectacular fashion with a fresh track that would make Duran Duran jealous.
Paramore just a dropped an amazing 80’s inspired track, ‘Hard Times‘. The song features some cool synthesizer tunes and a pop riff so upbeat you’ll be moonwalking to work. This is Paramore’s first release since 2013. Paramore also announced their upcoming album, After Laughter, with the single.
The video is a major throwback to the 80’s with hand-drawn retro animations occupying each frame. The colours bouncing around are reminiscent of MTV when it used to be cool, which adds a fun dynamic to a joyous tune. Williams, looking remarkably like Debbie Harry, cuts loose whilst York reservedly strums away and Farro, excited to be back, wearing a Devo-inspired beanie.
This marks a new era for Paramore, as Williams steps out of a car with bleach blonde hair instead of her usual fiery locks. Williams was unsure whether they would do another album after their self-titled LP in 2013.  Paramore is known for their pop rock aesthetics and they really rolled with it in Hard Times. Gone are the heavy power chords and lyrics filled with relatable teenage angst. This is a step into unfamiliar territory as they evolve and redefine their sound with what may be the catchiest single of 2017. Returning to the band is drummer and founding member, Zac Farro after his departure in 2010.
Check out the video for ‘Hard Times‘ below and look out for After Laughter on May 12th.
