The release of Fate of the Furious, the eighth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise, is nothing short of a box office sensation – overtaking Star Wars: The Force Awakens record as the highest-grossing opening of all time. Yet the franchise very nearly stopped part-way through the filming of the seventh installment, when Paul Walker, one of main leads in the films, tragically died in a car accident.
