Last weekend saw Kings Cross almost back to its heyday, with local bars and clubs pumping with patrons and great artists for Keep Sydney Open‘s event Meet Me In The Cross.Â
The Meet Me In The Cross event took place this past weekend, bringing a festival of big name Aussie headliners such as Hermitude, Thundamentals and Nina Las Vegas to iconic bars and clubs around Kings Cross.
Organisers of the event have taken to social media to praise festival-goers for their support, exclaiming:
“It was great to see Sydney this way – the way an international city should be!”
Unfortunately, in the wake of such a successful weekend, yet another licensed venue in the precinct has announced its closure. The Shift Bar and Kitchen in Darlinghurst broke news of their closure over social media, a devastating blow to the LGBTQI community attributed to those dastardly lockout laws.
Riding off the high of the weekend past, we can’t wait to see what the organisers have in store for our city next. On the other hand, how many events will Sydney have to host before the government realises the social and economical worth of Keeping Sydney Open?
