Aussie Designer Provides ‘Ex Infinitas’ Ugly Chic Options For Weekend Bender Couture

Have you ever wanted to maintain your signature haute couture while satisfying your inner bogan? Look no further. Aussie designer Lukas Vincent has reinvented men’s surf fashion, blending beach/stoner culture and snow gear to produce an irrefutably ‘ugly-chic’ line somewhat resembling your loungewear circa 2 am on a Sunday morn.

Designer Lukas Vincent has previously acknowledged the current appeal of ‘ugly’ pieces, and clearly the guy bloody ran with it. Vincent has taken the best of shabby loungewear and elements of surf chic and pretty well smushed them together to produce three collections worth of haute bogan (yes, we just coined this term) even your sloppiest mate could pull off at a backyard bender.

Think velour, double denim and flat-form slides… Now throw in a chunky robe and a woollen bucket hat. Ex Infinitas looks comfy as all hell: it’s laundry-day-lounge-wear and to be honest, we’re here for it.

Shabby-chic aside, Vincent has sculpted some seriously smart snow-wear for his Fall/Winter 2017 collection. Opting for monochrome straight-leg ski slacks and weather-practical jackets – this Aussie designer might well have created a viable trend in which to carve up Thredbo this season.

Likened to Gosha Rubchinskiy and Vetements, Vincent has undeniably mastered everyday garments: amalgamating the ‘mundane’ with somewhat artful splices of velour, denim and sticker embroidery. As terrifying as that combination sounds… the more we look at it, the more it grows on us.

Vincent has previously aligned his design process to that of Miuccia Prada, using something he essentially hates as a foundation on which to build his collection. Maybe that explains those unruly Uggs. On the distinct stoner-skater vibes of both his garments and shoots, Vincent notes that he wanted to refocus typically internationally-inspired fashion on the Aussie culture he was accustomed to in his youth:

“I wanted to put out of my mind what everyone else was doing and bring it back to something that is very normal, real, and very close to me.”

There you have it, Aussie label Ex Infinitas really is your go-to bender get-up. Check out all three Ex Infinitas collections here.Â
