The quick teaser aired during the Superbowl, and it’s the first we’ve seen of the film despite it having a May release date. But has the teaser given us any reason to be excited?
The film itself is a smart move on Disney’s part – after Han Solo was killed off in The Force Awakens, it immediately solidified an audience for this movie. There’s no doubt both new and old fans will be flocking to see the retrospective film on the reluctant hero that was Solo.
The teaser features all characters of interest, including Donald Glover’s Lando and Emilia Clarke’s Kira, who are already receiving the most attention. While it’s going to be hard to see anyone other than Harrison Ford in the role of Han, newcomer Alden Ehrenreich may just have the charisma to pull it off. In the trailer, he notes that he’s going to be “the best pilot in the galaxy”, which is very Han Solo indeed.
We also see a quick glimpse of Woody Harrelson’s character, who is set to be Han’s mentor. There’s also no doubt we’ll be seeing brand new planets and locations that will further expand the Star Wars universe. The teaser already gives us the familiar classic vibe that we know and love from the original trilogy.
While Solo will certainly bring the nostalgia factor – especially with the Millennium Falcon and that one shot of Chewbacca and Han together – only time will tell if the film delivers what it promises. Personally, I loved Rogue One as a prequel to the original trilogy, so here’s hoping Solo goes down the same path.
The full trailer for Solo will be released tomorrow. Are you excited for the film? Let us know below!
