Condé Nast's US and International Arms to Merge to Form Global Company

It has been revealed that Condé Nast and Condé Nast International are no longer operating as two independent companies but have merged as one.

In an email to Condé Nast employees, it was announced that the two would become one. In this move, the company is also on the lookout for a global chief executive to oversee the business. Current chief executives Bob Sauerberg (of Condé Nast) and Jonathon Newhouse (of Condé Nast International) will step down to pursue other roles.

Sauerberg will continue his role as CEO until the new global officer is found, at which he will then “leave to pursue other opportunities, including his representation of Advance on the board of Reddit.”. Newhouse will step down from his role as CEO and become chairman of Condé Nast’s board of directors.

“What has become clear is that our aspirations are no longer best served by our historical structure of running two separate companies,” the announcement reads. “We have concluded that the time is right for us to combine our U.S. and international companies to realise the full potential of Condé Nast for our audiences and our business partners.”

In August, the publishers announced their decision to merge Condé Nast Traveler’s US and UK editions into a single global team that would be looked after by a single editor-in-chief. With this new information about the companies merging, they have let it be known that they currently don’t plan for the staff of any magazine to merge together, says Wall Street Journal.

Operations will continue from their New York and London locations.
