Last week, Fenty Beauty announced that Amandla Stenberg would be the first ever Brand Ambassador for the makeup and *potential/ rumoured* skin care brand.
The 20-year-old actress and activist, who you’ve likely seen in The Hunger Games, The Hate U Give and Everything, Everything was more than excited to land the role.
Stenberg will appear in campaign imagery and represent the brand for the coming-year as the first “Fenty Face”. Being the first Brand Ambassador for Fenty Beauty (besides the wonderful Rihanna), Stenberg has a lot on her plate to live up to expectations – but the industry has no doubt that she’ll succeed with flying colours. As a young activist, whose “Don’t Cash Drop My Cornrows” video about cultural appropriation went viral in 2015, it seems as if Fenty is in the right hands.
“I wanted to become a part of the Fenty Family because it’s one of the few beauty brands that make me feel like myself! Fenty Beauty’s whole ethos makes me feel empowered and excited to let different facets of myself shine,” said Stenberg in the official press release.
When asked about her favourite Fenty products, Stenberg named the Match Stix Matte Skinstick and Shimmer Skinstick, saying that they “are wonderful for on-the-go highlighting and bronzing, and I’m always about having a lil glow going. Plus, they stick together with magnets, which ensure they’ll never break apart in your bag.”
In 2017, Rihanna created Fenty Beauty to be a unique and inclusive brand where “everyone [can] feel beautiful and recognised, no matter their race, ethnicity, culture or personal style,”. Since then, the brand has been embraced, appreciated and loved by beauty-lovers around the globe.
