Lady Gaga has revealed that her new beauty brand, Haus Laboratories, will be released via Amazon.
Haus Laboratories, originally thought to be called Haus Beauty, is Lady Gaga’s first solo beauty line and was anticipated for a 2019 release late last year. This week, Gaga came out to announce the line will be sold exclusively on Amazon. The singer/actress stated to Business of Fashion that the choice to partner with Amazon was to avoid beginning a relationship with a corporation that would expect her to change aspects of her line, stating, “… they’ll be like ‘Can you just change half the equation?’ The answer is no. No deal.”
Gaga goes on to state that Amazon are supportive of the message that defines her Haus Laboratories, a message of self-acceptance and inclusivity. So, basically, the brand is as Gaga as it can get, a complete representation of its creator’s own morals and role model status to her millions of fans.
“I’m sure as hell not going to put out a beauty brand that is going to drive insecurity and fear in to people. This is about liberation,” said Lady Gaga.
To further encourage inclusivity, Haus Laboratories products are reported to be bridging the gap between drug store and prestige label prices. Lip gloss is expected to come with a $16USD price tag, while kits will be $49USD.
Haus Laboratories is slated for a September launch, with pre orders opening on July 15, also known as Prime Day, a day of sales for Amazon users.
Lady Gaga was the cover girl of and featured in Fashion Industry Broadcast’s book Masters of Music Volume 20, which details the lives of some of the most influential names in the pop industry. The book is available for purchase through Amazon.
