R&B artist Teyana Taylor has just released her new and highly anticipated single, “How You Want It?” featuring the rapper, King Combs.
“How You Want It?” is her first and newest release since “K.T.S.E” (Keep That Same Energy), a Kanye-produced song that was released back in June of 2018.
The song is the epitome of sensual and we’re not mad about it. It samples Mase’s 1997 Harlem World hit, “What You Want,” and with Teyana and King Combs adding their own flavour to the mix, it’s a tune dressed to the ’90s.
The self-directed video by Taylor herself, takes us back to the ’90s with her references to popular director Hype Williams’ past work including LL Cool J’s “Doing It,” Toni Braxton’s “Just Be a Man About It,” and Notorious B.I.G.’s “Mo’ Money More Problems.”
Taylor took to social media to share her newest release and a statement of gratitude.
“As a director and artist, I’m so proud of this foreal y’all and could not have made this happen without my amazing team and staff that helped bring this masterpiece to life!”
In order to give back to fans, Taylor is hosting a contest searching for the best-choreographed video and the best freestyle dance to “How You Want It?” with prize money of up to $3000 each. Since the release, she has been re-posting dance covers posted by fans with the hashtag ‘#hywichallenge.’
