Pop singer-songwriter Kota Banks and electronic DJ and producer Ninajirachi have joined forces on a new alt-pop single ‘True North’.
As both highly talented artists, Kota Banks and Ninajirachi have brought together their shared knack for creating addictive electro-pop tunes with this new single being no exception.
Starting off slow and melancholic, this fire bop ‘True North’ steadily becomes an electro-charged hyper-pop tune with fast-paced electronic beats, deep pulsating synths, and Kota Bank’s stunning vocals that guide us through this energetic tune.
It’s clear to hear the influence of both artists throughout the song with the melding of different genres and sounds. Kota Banks brings forth aspects of her pop genre with stunning vocals, whilst Ninajirachi packs the song with a strong punch of electronic energy that makes this tune a true banger. With this collaboration, both artists have created a unique sub-genre of music that is sure to bring much intrigue from listeners.
In a joint statement, both artists spoke about their new song ‘True North’ mentioning the different sounds and genres both artists brought to the table.
“True North feels like the perfect encapsulation of both our solo music and our collaborative work together…It really feels like a medley of different styles that we both love so much.”
The two artists also spoke about the creative process behind their new track and how fluid and easy the song’s production was.
“The basis of the track came together very naturally over a few hours one afternoon in the studio mid-late last year.”
This isn’t Banks’ or Ninajirachi’s first time collaborating as artists, Ninajirachi most recently made a remix to Banks’ song ‘Never Sleep’ from her Sweet & Spice EP. The two musicians are also signed to the same record label, Nina Las Vegas‘ NLV Records.
Individually both artists have been very busy in 2020 with Ninajirachi releasing her singles ‘Cut The Rope’ and ‘Alight’, followed by her Blumiere EP earlier this year. Banks has also released her Sweet & Spice EP as well as her single ‘Snip Snip’. As well as this Banks has released a Sweet & Spice (Remixes) EP with collaborations from artists including Ninajirachi and Karen Nyame.
With a history of collaborations and now a hot new single hitting the airwaves, there’s no denying we’ll be seeing much more from the talented Kota Banks and Ninajirachi.
