English indie-pop singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Alfie Templeman has shared yet another smooth pop tune ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ that feels like a breath of fresh air.
At just 17 years old Alfie Templeman is a rising star to watch in the music industry making moves that are sending his career soaring. Releasing his fourth EP Happiness In Liquid Form earlier this year, Alfie has been keeping busy in 2020 venturing into new territories with his music becoming more explorative. This latest release sees Alfie perfect his alternative indie sound that is anthemic in its ability to get you up and moving.
Dripping in groove this new song opens with riffing guitars as jazzy electronic sounds glimmer around Alfie’s effortlessly charismatic vocals. ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ definitely doesn’t sound long enough with mesmeric sonic elements that make you want this tune to play on loop. Singing about life and it’s fleeting nature Alfie reflects on his lyrics and how his ideas are beyond his time:
“Some days I can’t stop thinking about how short life is and how you only have so much time to spend with the ones you love. Deep, right? Honestly I’ve made so many songs with the titles ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ but this one felt the most meaningful.”
“I’m still way too young to give anyone life advice but this track to me is about how I’ve noticed that the further away you are from your memories, the closer they are to your heart.”
The meaning behind this song hold’s a personal significance to Alfie who has a diagnosis of childhood lung disease spending a period of time in hospital last year. In his new tune, the artist ponders how short life is which may be influenced by his illness and the unpredictability of its nature. Alfie’s current health may alter his world significantly, especially his current outlook on life which sounds matured through the lyrics in this song.
Talking about his illness Alfie said, “It doesn’t really bother me, but I’m one of those “‘vulnerable to Covid-19″ people, so I’ve been shielding since March,” he reveals. “It’s been a long summer!”
Alfie’s career has been blossoming with his first headline show in London at COLOURS in Hoxton earlier this year. In 2019 he also played at Reading and Leeds festival with an ambition to keep pushing himself further. All four of his EP’s including 2020’s Happiness In Liquid Form followed by 2018’s Like An Animal, and 2019’s Sunday Morning Cereal and Don’t Go Wasting Time all reflect a multi-talented artist who is ready to take on the world. Prompting praise from press and fans, this rising star already boasts 1 million monthly Spotify listeners with 30 million streams to date.
The artist’s career has come a long way since he released his debut single ‘Like An Animal’ which prompted him to be picked by Apple for their #shotoniphone campaign from a shortlist of rising artists around the globe. Alfie was also chosen by YouTube Music as one of their worldwide “Foundry Artist” in 2020 and has appeared on billboards in Times Square in NYC and Central LA.
The new single ‘Forever Isn’t Long Enough’ is accompanied by a bright and colourful music video that was directed by Thomas Davis. Alfie said about the video:
“I’ve always wanted to make a really colourful video and this hit the spot. Thomas and crew did a wicked job of capturing how no matter what age you are, you just gotta have a bit of fun! That’s really what the song is about.”
